How does the home whitening kit work?

There are threesignificant steps in whitening your teeth with a home whitening kit.

Step 1- Book a check-up

This step is necessary to ensure that you have healthy gums and teeth to carry out your home teeth whitening, so your dentist will first examine your teeth and gum. If there is no problem, your dentist will take your teeth impressions to create custom-made whitening trays, which are similar to mouth guards.

During this first consultation, you will also discuss the teeth shade you expect to achieve and instructions to achieve the best result.

Step 2- Collection of custom-trays

When your trays are ready, your dentist will contact you, and you will collect them at the dental clinic alongside the bleaching gel you will use at home. You will have to try on the whitening trays for your dentist to check how they fit. If they do not fit correctly, your dentist may make some adjustments and also show you how to use them.

Step 3- Whiten your teeth

The final step in using the whitening tray and gel is to do so according to your dentist’s instructions. Your dentist will have to tell you how long you need to wear the trays every day. It can be for about eight hours in the day or at night. The duration of wearing the whitening trays usually depends on your teeth and the shade of teeth you desire.

Alternative to professional home teeth whitening

You may decide to use an over-the-counter home whitening kit to whiten your teeth. These whitening kits are available online and in many UK pharmacies. You can either get a whitening kit or whitening strips.

Note that some of these over-the-counter home teeth whitening kits may not be effective and can damage your teeth. Before you use any teeth whitening treatment, ensure you talk to your dentist about it to check if you are suitable for the whitening treatment.

You can contact London Braces on 020 37457520 to speak to a dentist about a home whitening kit you want to use or book an appointment for your professional home teeth whitening.
